Fairies And Princesses

Now that my kids have been back in school for a while after the holiday break, the birthday invities are arriving in a fast and furious fashion. And it seems that two of the most popular themes amongst little girls are also the most enduring - fairies and princesses. From Abby Cadabby and Tinkerbell to Sleeping Beauty and Tiana, little girls love the pretty colors and lovely dresses.

And so, I set about today adding some new cupcake toppers to my Etsy store that fit these themes. For the fairy theme, I added some pastel colored fairy wand toppers and for the princess theme, I added some princess shoes with a touch of sparkle.

If you're looking for a custom color, just contact me via Etsy and I can create a custom look just for you!

It's A GI Joe Party!

I've been busy preparing for my middle child's 6th birthday party which is fast approaching. He loves GI Joe and really wanted a cake shaped like a GI Joe jet with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow fighting each other on top.

So, I've gotten the first step completed and have made my fondant Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. These were definitely not the easiest fondant figures I've ever made but I think the result is pretty good and my son loves them. Next, I'll have to tackle the GI Joe jet which will require some cake carving skills that I'm still learning. Should be an adventure :)

Are you planning a GI Joe party? If you don't want to attempt fondant figures then you can always buy a cool GI Joe cake topper to make life a little easier or make some cupcakes and use these great GI Joe cupcake rings.

Cozy Up With Cupcake Bedding

I ran across this absolutely adorable cupcake bedding and just had to share! Not only is it from one of my favorite stores over in England (I love to shop at M&S when I'm visiting family in the U.K.) but it also features cupcakes and it's PINK. What more could a girl ask for?

I think I might be getting this bedding set for my little girl. Unfortunately, M&S doesn't ship to the U.S. but that's where my extended family comes in. Since they live over there, one of them might be persuaded to shop for me and ship the bedding over here :)

What heaven to cozy up every night surrounded by cupcakes - sweet dreams everyone!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I am excited to start another year of cake decorating and have vowed to spend time this year to improve my skills, take some more classes and practice, practice, practice!

Hubby and I spent today completely emptying our coat closet which we then fitted with shelves and door racks to store all my cake supplies which seem to be multiplying at an alarming rate. As I gathered together all my stuff from various other places in our home, I was excited to come across things I had forgotten that I even have. Now I feel organized and am ready to move forwards with my baking and decorating.

Thanks to all my readers for the past year and I hope that this year will bring new and exciting ideas for you to try at home. Happy baking!
